Leading building firm Rok seems to have hit rock bottom what with a string of unbearable business losses. But then the heads of the firm aren’t the only ones worried. A strong 3,800 jobs may also be lost with the series of loses as has been borne by the company now. Trading in poorly at 18.5p, the firm’s shares were simply suspended.

They have fallen down drastically by about ninety percent which is nothing short of shocking for Rok. Not four months ago Rok revealed that it had incurred drastic half yearly losses worth £3.8 million. The firm has thus got into administration. Just like with leading competitor housing firm Connaught which too entered administration after facing similar poor losses. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) people Rob Hunt, Mike Jervis and Jeremy Webb, were all appointed as joint administrators at Rok.
Earlier Rok had also dealt with a severe blow when its plumbing, heating and electrical business was down and out big time as reported by an independent review done by the auditing firm BDO. The firm is known to provide with repairs and maintenance services to housing societies, schools, councils among others. The loosing of a string of its public as well as private sector clients even prompted them to cut about 750 jobs then.
The company now slowly but surely seems to be on the recovering track with its order book currently reading an impressive £435 million. The Scottish Government's economic and community development agency has also got into a £32 million deal with Rok which should see bright and pleasant sun rays hitting the firm’s management and employees. They are also winning some other healthy contracts.
